about

Bone Key is a song that Gazel wrote and produced in the two weeks prior to releasing the eponymous EP. The song's lyrics depict a woman seeking advice for her troubles, and the somewhat cryptic response from her adviser.

lyrics

I've been awake for sixteen days
Walked from him sixteen paces
We've tried this other ways but this time calls for real disgrace
Don't lie to me lady, please

He's ill, can you not tell?
Not even you can make him well
You see it's much too soon and I'm pale like a murdered moon
Don't lie to me lady, please

She said
As above, so it is below
Don't talk to your darkness anymore
As above, so it is below
Don't talk to your darkness anymore
As above, so it is below

How he tried to mark my days
Separate me from my faces
Oh we tried all sorts of ways
But this one was a real disgrace
Don't lie to me madam, please
Hear what you tell me now is all I can do

I tried to be a mountain
And I tried to be a knife, but
All I sing is the broken song of how this curse lays on my life
Don't ply me with vanities
You need me like I need you
And I'm done without you

She said
As above, so it is below
Don't talk to your darkness anymore
As above, so it is below
Don't talk to your darkness anymore
As above, so it is below

Nobody for to pray..

Here's the key to prisons
When the moon is low
Drop him in a river

Here's the key to prisons
When the moon is low
Drop him in a river
Drop him in a river
